Bài 2. Ta có :
\(x + {1 \over x} = a \)
\(\Rightarrow {a^2} = {x^2} + 2x.{1 \over x} + {1 \over {{x^2}}} = {x^2} + {1 \over {{x^2}}} + 2\)
\( \Rightarrow {a^2} – 2 = {x^2} + {1 \over {{x^2}}}\)
\({x^3} + {1 \over {{x^3}}} = {\left( {x + {1 \over x}} \right)^3} – 3\left( {x + {1 \over x}} \right)\)\(\; = {a^3} – 3a\)

\(= {x^5} + {{{x^2}} \over {{x^3}}} + {{{x^3}} \over {{x^2}}} + {1 \over {{x^5}}} \)
\(= {x^5} + {1 \over x} + x + {1 \over {{x^5}}}\)
\( = {x^5} + {1 \over {{x^5}}} + x + {1 \over x}\)

\(= \left( {{x^2} + {1 \over {{x^2}}}} \right).\left( {{x^3} + {1 \over {{x^3}}}} \right) – \left( {x + {1 \over x}} \right) \)
\(= \left( {{a^2} – 2} \right)\left( {{a^3} – 3a} \right) – a\)
\( = {a^5} – 3{a^3} – 2{a^3} + 6a – a = {a^5} – 5{a^3} + 5a.\)
