On 27 November 1971, ASEAN foreign ministers of five member countries issued the Zone of Peace, Freedom and Neutrality Declaration in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The First ASEAN Summit was held in Bali, Indonesia on 24 February 1976. On August 1977, the Second ASEAN Summit was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to commemorate the 10th anniversary of ASEAN’s foundation. Brunei was formally admitted on 7 January 1984.
